Type of Institute Description
Autonomus : Government Aided
(VJTI/ICT/COEP/SGGS/WCE/VIT) They have their own syllabus and own governing body. The government aid helps them to subsidize fees
University: Government Aid-Ed
(SPCE etc They come under a particular university(Mumbai University, Pune University) and the fees are subsidized
University: Private Minority(KJ SOMAIYA, Thadonal Shahani etc) They have 50% reservations for a particular minority based on language, religion
University : Private Non Minority
(RGIT, They are private colleges and have normal 52% quota reservation
Autonomus: Private(Mukesh Patel School Of Technology Management and Engineering) They have their own university and the degree conferred is as per the rules of their governing body.
Now each of the categories has a different Engineering admission process. Let us look at the various admission process in detail
1. Central Admission Process(CAP Admission)
This is the most common Engineering Admission Process. CAP considers CET and AIEEE marks for admissions. It is a central procedure where you need to fill your option choice online and then the particular seats will be allocated for First Year Engineering .

2. Autonomus: Admission Process for VJTI/COEP/SGGS/WCE
These colleges are going to follow a separate admission process called CAPAI.
3. DJ Sanghvi Admission Process( Dwarkadas J Sanghvi College of Engineering)
DJ Sanghvi college comes under the Mumbai University but it has its own admission process and it is not part of CAP. The college has a 50% Gujarati Minority too.
4. Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) Admission Process
ICT is going to have its own admission process and it is not part of CAP or CAPAI.
5. Private Minority :
These colleges apart from filling 50% of the seats through CAP, fill up the minority seats through their own forms and rounds.

6. NMiMS Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management and Engineering(MPSTME) Admission process
The institute takes admission through NMAT and they have their own rounds for the Engineering admisisons.
