B.TECH IT

B. Tech IT
Objective:
History of the discipline
Computer science (Computing Engineering) is the study of the theoretical foundations of information, computation, their implementation, and application in computer systems. Computer science has many sub-fields; some emphasize the computation of specific results (such as computer graphics), while others relate to properties of computational problems (such as computational complexity theory). Still others focus on the challenges in implementing computations. For example, programming language theory studies approaches to describing computations, while computer programming applies specific programming languages to solve specific computational problems. A further subfield, human-computer interaction, focuses on the challenges in making computers and computations useful, usable and universally accessible to people. Computer era was started in early 1950s. The technological advancement has given it the right shape. We have seen the development from large ENIAC to small Palmtops and the progress in going on.

Present Status at National and International Level
In a developing country like India Computer Software is the one of the largest economic activity. The amount of money and job created by this industry is more comparable to other industries. Automation of Banks, Online shopping and e-learning are few successful implementation examples where national software firm have taken up over their international counterparts. Major IT industries are having their offshore development centre in India. Many of the industry experts say that if you don’t have a development centre in India, you are not doing the business seriously. Many Indian companies like InfoSys, Wipro, TCS etc. are shining globally and making the mark.

Placement Opportunity
Due to boom in Software industry Computer / IT graduates are having good placement opportunities. Student can pursue their career in different sectors of IT like Software development & Testing, ERP, Databases, Web Technologies, R&D, UI Specialist, Mainframes Technologies etc. Ultimately, the engineering degree provides a rigorous exposure to logical thinking.

Change In Technology In Last Five Years
In the last few years the scope of Computer / IT engineering has grown rapidly. Major improvement and advancement are incurred in areas like User Interface Design, On-line shopping, and Usability issues in operating systems. Last five years have seen the way user can interact with computer. Also major improvements on technology front have been observed.

Upcoming Technologies
Keeping up with today’s dynamic technology space is a challenge for any organization. Due to the increase in the demand for consumer satisfaction, many of the organizations are moving towards automation. As the multimedia technologies are heavily used in the software, this has increase the requirement for space and fast computing. We can now see quad, dual core processors. The future requirement would be: fastest compression, huge space HDDs.

Effects and use to the society
The impact of computer engineering is great on society. More and more people want to be a computer literate. Computer software can be the great boon to physically challenged people. Computer engineers are responsible for improving and automating the traditional business procedures. Software can be used to train people. Email has change the way people can communicate.

Future Scope
As many of the companies are doing their business online and are having the global presence. Industry is expecting the nano edge where the size would be inversely proportional to the computing power. Very soon we can have super computer on desktops.
